Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in India

India has one of the largest Mobile Phone consume country. Mobile Number Portability is not available in India(Coming soon). India has 35 crore(Approximate) Cell Phone Connections including GSM(Global System for Mobile Communications) and CDMA(Code Division for Multiple Access).
In India Number Portability to Mobile phones Will introduce by September 20 of 2009.Many Global Countries already using the Number Portability to Cell Phones.

Department of Telecommunications(DOT) Issued licence to Two Private MNP(Mobile Number Portability) Players. Syniverse Technologies and MNP Interconnection Telecom solutions India(Joint venture of Telcordia Technologies) are the two Licenced companies to provide MNP services in India. India has divided into two circles and reserved to these firms.
In first phase, The service would be introduced in four circles of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kolkata. Next implement all over India gradually.

TRAI(Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) didn't finalise Tariff Charges to transfer from one network to another. Expect the charges below Rs.300, This charge may decrease if increase subscribers.
